Our first session is about getting to know each other and exploring what brings you to therapy. I'll ask questions about your current situation, background, and what you hope to gain from our work together. This is also your opportunity to ask questions and get a feel for how I work. Think of it as laying the foundation for our therapeutic relationship—a space where you can begin to share your story without pressure or judgment.
Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Initially, we typically meet weekly for the first 3 weeks as this provides continuity and momentum for the therapeutic process. As you progress, we might adjust to fortnightly sessions. I believe in working at a pace that honours your unique journey and resources.
Therapy is highly individual, and there's no set timeframe that applies to everyone. Some people find that 6-12 sessions help them through a specific challenge, while others benefit from longer-term work to address deeper patterns or complex trauma. We'll regularly review your progress and goals to ensure therapy continues to serve your needs.
I take an integrative approach that adapts to your specific needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method. My work draws from creative arts therapy, somatic (body-based) approaches, psychodynamic understanding, and practical strategies for managing challenges. Above all, I believe in therapy that acknowledges your whole self—mind, body, soul, relationships, and environment.
As a psychotherapist, I do not conduct formal assessments or provide diagnoses. My approach focuses on creating a therapeutic relationship that supports growth, healing, and self-understanding through exploration of patterns, experiences, and meaning. Psychotherapy in Australia is not currently recognised under Medicare's Mental Health Care Plan framework, as it operates from a different paradigm than diagnosis-focused approaches.
Counselling typically addresses specific issues or immediate challenges, offering guidance and support during particular life transitions or difficulties. It tends to be more solution-focused and present-oriented than psychotherapy.
My practice as a psychotherapist draws from elements of all these approaches—offering practical support for current challenges while creating space to explore and transform underlying patterns, without the formal diagnostic framework of psychology. I'm to find out who you are, not what you are.
My practice is based in the Sunshine Coast hinterland in Nambour, Queensland. I offer both in-person sessions and online therapy via a secure video platform for those who live throughout Australia, or would prefer online sessions. I will send you a private link to our sessions prior to our sessions. I strictly work from 9 AM - 5:30 PM.
My current fee is $150 per 50-minute session and $150 per 1-hour for any subsequent reports to be made (optional and made on request via email). Please allow at least 7 days for a report to completed from acceptance of request. NDIS is welcome.
Unfortunately, there is are no Medicare rebates available for counselling services and limited eligibility to utilising private health, so I do not offer these at this time. Once, this become available, I will ensure all my clients are informed of these changes.
I request at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations. Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice will incur a 50% charge of the session fee. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice and missed appointments will incur the full session fee, except in genuine emergencies.
Finding the right therapeutic relationship is crucial. Our initial session gives us both a chance to determine if we're a good fit. I encourage you to notice how you feel talking with me—whether you feel heard, respected, and comfortable. I will check-in on our relationship from time-to-time, to see how we're travelling.
It's perfectly okay to discuss any concerns or questions about working together - in fact I encourage it, I offer a 20-minute complimentary intake voice or video call to all prospective clients.Finding the right therapist is like finding the perfect pair of jeans - you won’t know until you try them on. From my experience, it can take a minimum of 3 sessions to know you have found the right therapist for you. It’s okay if we aren’t the right fit too, I have a list of other wonderful therapists who I can recommend to you.
Online sessions take place via a secure, confidential video platform. You'll need a private space, reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. Many clients find online therapy offers valuable flexibility while still providing the connection and benefits of in-person work.
I recognise and value neurodivergence as a natural variation in human experience rather than something that needs "fixing." My approach adapts to your sensory needs, communication style, and processing preferences. Sessions can include more or less structure, visual supports, breaks when needed, and flexibility in how we work together.
I welcome clients from all walks of life and believe that diversity enriches the therapeutic space. My practice is proudly inclusive, regardless of your ability, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, area of work, sexual orientation and socioeconomic status.
I understand that each person brings their unique identity, experiences, and perspectives to therapy. Creating a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can authentically express all aspects of your identity is fundamental to my practice. I continuously educate myself about diverse experiences and am committed to cultural humility and responsive care that honours your whole self.
If you have specific needs or concerns about how your identity might be respected in therapy, I welcome that conversation. My aim is to ensure that every person feels seen, valued, and understood throughout our work together - I look forward to meeting you as you are.
While I love working with children, I am not currently taking clients who are under the age of 16. Alternatively, if you are a parent or guardian struggling with the demands and stresses of parenting, you are in the right place.
My practice is designed to provide scheduled psychotherapy sessions rather than crisis intervention services. I'm unable to provide after-hours support or respond to urgent needs outside our scheduled appointment times.
If you're experiencing a crisis or require immediate support, I encourage you to:
Contact Lifeline (13 11 14) for 24/7 crisis support
Call the Mental Health Access Line (1800 011 511) for guidance
Visit your nearest hospital emergency department
Call 000 in emergency situations
Your privacy is fundamental to our work together. What you share in therapy remains confidential in accordance to Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) Code of Ethics, with few exceptions required by law: if there's risk of harm to yourself or others, or mandated reporting situations involving child safety. I'll always discuss these limits to confidentiality with you.
Your comfort and safety in our therapeutic relationship are paramount. If something occurs during our sessions that feels uncomfortable, concerning, or misaligned with your needs, I genuinely want to know about it. Here's what you can do:
Bring it up directly in session if you feel able. This can sometimes lead to valuable insights and strengthen our working relationship.
Send me an email or leave a message expressing your concern if discussing it face-to-face feels too challenging right now.
Take some time to reflect on what specifically felt uncomfortable and why. This self-awareness can help us address the issue more effectively.
Therapy involves exploring vulnerable territories, which can naturally bring discomfort at times. A large part of therapy is being in relation with one another and learning to navigate rupture and repair moments together. However, there's an important distinction between productive therapeutic discomfort and feeling unheard, misunderstood, or unsafe. I'm committed to working through any concerns collaboratively and adapting our approach when needed but if you believe there has been a breach of ethical conduct, you can find information on how to lodge an ethical complaint here.
All feedback is received with openness and without judgment. Your experience matters to me deeply, and addressing these moments often leads to significant growth and a stronger therapeutic alliance.
